Considering the plethora of coverage the conflict in Iraq has garnered in both the news and entertainment field, it is a miracle that filmmakers Tony Gerber (writer/director Side Streets and Small Taste of Heaven) and Jesse Moss (producer/director of Con Man and Rated R: Republicans in Hollywood) were able to create something new and interesting in Full Battle Rattle.

 from Pink Shorts So what’s a first-time filmmaker from Tulsa, Oklahoma doing making a French-language short starring a 6-year-old girl? As the writer/director of “ Pink Shorts”, an 8 1/2 minute film featured in NewFilmmakers NY July 2nd lineup, I get asked that a lot. A number of other questions soon follow, and so in lieu of the Q&A I’ll never have (as I won’t be present at the screening), here are answers for the curious.

Ben Piety's work has played at a multitude of festivals, including Sundance, Los Angeles, American Film Institute, South by Southwest, and BFI London. His short piece Lonely Lights, the Color of Lemons will play in AFA's New Filmmaker's Series this Wednesday.
